Introducing the brainless man

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Most people have an strong set of core beliefs and some goals in life and fight to achieve them. The people around me pursue finish their studies, get a job, locate a partner and raise a family.

In comparison I’m in such stage on life I don’t have any consistent objetive in my life. My beliefs and goals change faster than my environment. I’m curious about everything, there are tons of interesting skills to have or topics to learn about.

Is this a problem?

It’s really easy to influence me to change my beliefs and life goals. When I read something that seems logical I accept what is written for granted without further thinking. The consequence: what I think about a topic today can be totally different tomorrow.

My mind is extremely open minded and lazy. It’s easier to accept what others think than work to have a personal opinion. Not only I have very bad memory but sometimes I have extremely simple thoughts. Most of the time my thoughts are similar to Homer Simpson’s than Goethe’s.

In consequence I don’t have strong personal opinions about anything. I’m a son of Internet, suffering an information overload, reading too much and not spending enough time to ask myself what is my real opinion about what I’m reading.

Do you have the same problem?

My firsts days in Germany

Finally on Würzburg!

Another view

Würzburg from the fortress

The first thing I notice once I arrived here was the COLD. I was used to hot and humid nights and the fresh COLD air was a surprise to me. I was freezing but the people was just wearing light clothes!. Another big difference I notice instantly, it was absolutely dark around 20:00!

After a couple of days visiting the city, I’m really surprised because I was expecting a small and boring city but this is a very beautiful and romantic city. It’s also very green, there are lots of trees and vegetation everywhere and most of the people appear to use bikes, and there are no cars in downtown. The buildings are short and the streets are narrow and clean. Everything looks… nice, which is a good contrast with Seoul. I was tired of the crappy saturated Korean streets.

Postcard-like picture of the city

The city is surrounded by hills. The main one has a huge castle. From there, you can see the entire city.I really like this mini city. It’s extremely romantic and cute, you can walk all over the city, there is no traffic and the air is incredible clear.

I’m sick!

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

I’ve been pretty sick these last days. I’ve had a sore throat that rapidly evolve into a tonsillitis. It’s a common illness for me since Ribadesella’s 2005 summer party. Every August a lot of people gather together on a huge summer party in a small village in the beach in the northert part of Spain. It’s always warm, but the nights are a bit cold and super humid. After a crazy night two years ago, I return home with a huge cold that forced me to stay in bed for two weeks and destroyed my throat.

Until then, I always had been a super healthy guy and I had never have real health problems but since that summer, It’s pretty easy for me to get a cold. Doctors told me that I have the throat cells in very bad state because the tissue is too folded which means it’s a perfect substrate for bacteria. They also told me that the muscular tissue will be recovered in a year if I prevent my throat to become infected again. But I’ve been having small colds since then every three months. I will need to have a lot more care in the future…

Beginning of my Korean adventure

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Last Friday I met my parents. They were really happy because I returned home after almost 4 months living in Canada. Now they can feel me again, touch me and speak to me looking at my eyes. Everything was being nice but after a couple of hours they asked me what I plan to do with my life from now on. Their faces changed when I told them that I was planning to get a job overseas, and that I was not thinking in a country as close as Canada. This time I want to go really far. That means more time from my parent’s home. Mum is really worried with me but surprinsingly she is aware of my situation. She is not pushing me, she is trying to suggest me to stay close but she is not angry. I think that maybe she was already expecting something similar or maybe she thinks that now I’m speaking about traveling far but I’m not going to really make the decision or that it’s beyond my means. We will see what happen.

Now I’m on my way to Valladolid. I’m traveling on an old train and not using the newer, bright and faster Spanish bullet train to save a few bucks. Very bad idea, I think this is the last time I’m going to do something like that. This train is uncomfortable, noisy and slow. Plus I need to be 2,5 hours traveling in this old, dirty train where the newer and bright bullet train needs only 1 hour. I think I’m getting old!

Travelling…

Last Monday I went to the Korean embassy. They where very kind and explain me that it should not be impossible for me to get a job there but it’s going to be tough. The good news is that in Seoul there are lots of businesses that work in English environment (not Korean). So speak a proper Korean it’s not a requirement for me although I will need to work hard to improve my English and learn basic Korean.

The bad news is that probably I will need to go there firstly as a tourist and look for a job in a proactive way, sending resumes from a local address and make interviews. When a local business offer me a contract I will need to return Madrid with the Korean contract on my pocket. After that I will need to apply for a visa and wait for 4 days. And then return to Korea.

So I will need to fly all over the world, arrive at Seoul, look for a job, return to Madrid, apply for a visa and wait for a few days. And then fly all over the world again.

Sounds crazy. I’m 25. Maybe this is my last adventure.
